Condi: 'The country will be in good hands.'

By Ben Trott

As progressives and the left develop an ever-increasing skepticism as to the extent of the 'change' which can be hoped for from an Obama administration, the 'establishment' (from Clintonites who left their mark on the last Democratic presidency, through to neo-conservatives and parts of the Republican Party) are increasingly expressing their enthusiasm for the emerging line-up.

Jeremy Scahill has put together a collection of quotes for the Monthly Review zine. They include remarks on the administration being put together by the Obama transition team by Karl Rove, John McCain, Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice.

Rove is quoted as simply remarking that the appointments made by Obama so far have been 'reassuring'.

How, well, unreassuring.
