Al Gore is said to have a meeting scheduled with Obama and Biden today, although he is reported as having stated (repeated, in fact) his lack of interest in an official position within the administration. Gore was, of course, Vice President to Bill Clinton.
The top position for energy and the environment remains unfilled, with the New York Times reporting Jason Grumet as the current leading candidate for the job. (Read more on Grumet at Grist.org). One of the first major tasks with which whoever secures this job will be confronted is preparing for the UN Climate Change Conference (known as COP-15) in Copenhagen, Denmark, in November-December 2009, the preparatory meeting for which is currently taking place in Poznań, Poland (COP-14).
