In the article, Ayers discussed his reasons for remaining silent during the election campaign and sought to introduce his 'real' self. On Monday, Katha Pollit, in an article published on the Nation's website, criticised what she regarded as the continued romanticising of Weatherman and the Weather Underground by those who had been involved. She demanded an apology from Ayers for the role they were said to have played in the destruction of the left at the time.
