In what Jason Lefkowitz on the Change to Win Federation of trade unions' website describes as, 'the first time in living memory', labour unions have been invited to participate in the Presidential inauguration parade.
The unions played a leading role in Obama's election campaign, but according to a recent blog post by Guardian America's editor, Michael Tomasky, they still have some way to go in order to pressure the incoming administration to deliver swiftly on the Employee Free Choice Act upon which many unions' endorsement was conditional.
